El Marada Movement Political Coordinator, Youssef Saadeh, stressed that the political rift existing across Lebanon also prevails in Zgharta electorate, ruling out talks of leaving a vacant seat on El Marada's list of election nominees. Saadeh stated that Zgharta will experience an election battle in 2009, saying "it is impossible to leave a vacant nomination on our list."

El Marada leader Sleiman Frangieh received at his Zgharta-Bnachii residence the Iranian Charge D'Affaires to Lebanon Mojtaba Ferdowsi-pour and discussed with him Lebanese-Iranian relationships and latest developments.
